In "Elizabethtown", Drew Baylor (Orlando Bloom) is a shoe designer who has just been fired from his job at a prestigious company after his latest design concept goes awry, resulting in massive financial losses for the corporation. To add insult to injury, he's also dumped by his girlfriend, Ellen (Kirsten Dunst), citing that she can't handle the stress of being in a relationship with someone who is struggling to find direction. Feeling like his life has hit rock bottom, Drew sets out on a journey to Kentucky to scatter his father's ashes at the site of his favorite restaurant, the "Open Arms" diner. Along the way, he meets Claire Colburn (Julia Roberts), a quirky and charming flight attendant who is also grieving the loss of her own loved one. As they spend more time together, Drew begins to open up about his past and his current struggles, and Claire shares stories about her own experiences with loss and heartbreak. This movie is like a dog, really. You can’t stop staring at it because it’s so weird, yet you can’t help but feel sorry for it. Drew’s life is a mess, and his shoe company is basically the cute little poodle he’s trying to train while everything around him goes to crap. It’s a chaotic ride that’s hard not to laugh at, even if you want to scream sometimes.
