In the 1932 film "Doctor X", a renowned pathologist, Dr. Henry Clavering (played by Lionel Barrymore), is on the hunt for a serial killer known as the Moon Killer, who has been terrorizing New York City. Clavering's reputation and sanity are threatened when he becomes obsessed with solving the case. Meanwhile, a wisecracking reporter, Ivan Torrance (played by Lee Tracy), stumbles upon Clavering's research and sees an opportunity to get the scoop of a lifetime. Despite Clavering's initial reluctance, Torrance convinces him to let him tag along on his investigation in exchange for exclusive access.
